Psalm 115: 15 “May you be blessed by the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Blizzard’s not your average boy…

He’s an eight year old travel pillow with a rambunctious spirit and a sincere love for Jesus Christ. In The Adventures of Blizzard the Travel Pillow, Blizzard, joins his adoptive Grandpa in outdoor adventures like camping, hunting and fishing. Sometimes he gets into trouble with his adoptive brother, Cyclone, but he also learns how to be a part of a family as he pitches in to help out Grandma and his adoptive sisters. Along the way Grandpa teaches Blizzard about the Bible, and imparts life lessons found in the scriptures.

What sets The Adventures of Blizzard apart is its ability to merge storytelling with valuable life lessons. Each story comes with discussion questions and activities that foster critical thinking and encourage parental involvement. This makes it an ideal addition to any child's library or bedtime routine.

With the Holy Bible as his guide, Blizzard wants to share his lessons with children far and wide. Each month Blizzard will write a letter to his friends that share an adventure, a lesson and a little bit of scripture to reflect on. If you would like to read those, just sign up below!

Let the Adventure Begin!

We meet Blizzard at a difficult time in his life, he is being returned to the store and despairs that there is something ‘wrong’ with him. Before the shop keeper could ‘dispose’ of him, however, Grandpa kindly offers to adopt Blizzard.

A true blessing, Blizzard now has a home with three pillow siblings, and loving Grandparents; a REAL family!

Grandpa teaches Blizzard about Jesus Christ, and reads him scriptures from the Holy Bible. Through Blizzards adventures (and mis-adventures) he begins to learn the Christian values of faith, family and friendship.

“This is a book for families! It is written with the goal of creatively introducing moral lessons that children certainly need to learn…Each chapter affords the opportunity for parents to teach valuable life lessons to their children…What a gift!”
—Bud Makus, Pastor

Supported by Scripture

Each chapter in Blizzards book contains a lesson, as well as scripture taken from the Christian Standard Bible. In chapter three, Blizzard's first trip to town becomes a learning experience when he eats a candy bar without paying for it and feels uneasy with people's stares. Grandpa reassures Blizzard of his unconditional love and explains the importance of paying for things, likening it to the lesson in 1 John 1:9 about confessing sins and receiving God's forgiveness. Through this experience, Blizzard learns that just as Grandpa's love is unwavering, God's forgiveness and acceptance are always available when we sincerely confess our sins.

“How does a person receive Jesus?” I asked. “I have never seen Him”.

Grandpa answered, “We just talk to God in prayer, Bliz. We confess that we are sinners and tell Him we want to have Jesus as Lord of our lives. If we are being sincere with God, He will forgive all of our sins and wash them completely away.”

Grandpa went on to say, “Thank God for His promise according to 1 John 1:9. It says, ‘If we confess our sin, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.’

The Adventure Continues!

It’s Christmas time and Blizzards’ second book picks up right where he left off. With each chapter you get more insight into the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of an eight-year-old boy.

In “More Adventures of Blizzard the Travel Pillow,” we see how Blizzard handles bullies, fighting with his brother, and his first time leading Sunday school, just to name a few.

With Grandmas tender care, and Grandpas loving, scripture-based guidance, Blizzard learns and grows with each experience.

Despite facing challenges and setbacks, Blizzy remains eager to please and share his experiences, hoping others can benefit from what he has discovered.

Supported by Scripture

Each chapter in Blizzards book contains a lesson, as well as scripture taken from the Christian Standard Bible. In chapter four, Blizzard learns a valuable lesson about God's plan and reassurance from Romans 8:28 when his friend Tanner announces he is moving away. Despite his sadness and initial confusion, Blizzard finds comfort in trusting that God has a special purpose for everyone, including Tanner. Grandpa reinforces this understanding, emphasizing the importance of relying on God’s love and staying connected through faith and prayer, which helps Blizzard accept the changes with a renewed sense of hope and support.

It was at that moment I turned around and started to cry. I asked no one in particular, “Why, does my friend have to leave? Why couldn’t his dad keep his job in our town? Why couldn’t they find someone else to do that work?” At that time, I could find no answers.

Then, I remembered Romans 8: 28 which informs us: “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.”

I turned back and rubbed my eyes. I did not want to hurt my special friend’s feelings. I knew it was the Lord’s will. I knew He had something special for Tanner and I should be pleased for him. Still, it hurt, but I trust Jesus and know His will is best for me.
